Introducing dataisbaye

Welcome to my blog where I intend to share with you my innermost thoughts - about data. Sorry if you were hoping for something else. While I don’t know if I can make any promises, but I would like to make at least some of my posts interesting and understandable to the general public. At the same time, I want this blog to show off my skills in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, and all the other buzz words in that general area. First and foremost, I need to make those grad schools I got rejected from know what a big mistake they made. Don’t worry, hubris is one of The Three Great Virtues of Programmers.

I was considering attempting an algorithm to choose a cool domain name for me, but when I thought of this one, I knew it couldn’t get any better. If you are a normal human being, you might not see what all is so great about it so I shall enlighten you:

  • Firstly, know that the cool kids these days use bae as a term of endearment. (No, I don’t care what your opinion is of the word.)
  • Next know that Reverend Thomas Bayes is kind of a big deal in probability and statistics. Remember Bayes' Theorem from stats class? No? Oh, ok.
  • Moving on. I also like that it contains the acronym AI in it. For artificial intelligence, that is.
  • Finally, my favorite aspect of this domain name might best be explained by Randall Munroe’s xkcd comic shown to the right. While I don’t care about your opinion of the usage of bae, I very much care that you despise the usage of data as plural. Don’t perpetuate the madness. Nobody actually thinks it sounds good. They’re just trying to sound smart.

On that note, thanks for reading and congrats for making it this far. I will hopefully have a less introductory post coming out in the near future. Be patient.
